How to choose a solar panel thermal system

Termocasa

If you are thinking of installing a system of thermal solar panels, you should thoroughly inform yourself about several aspects, aspects that can significantly increase the return on your investment.

Choosing the right thermal solar panels

Depending on the allocated budget, the position in which they will be installed, etc., you can choose non-pressurized solar panels or high-performance Direct Absorption solar panels.

  • Choosing an authorized distributor and installer. An important aspect of the solar panel installation process is the correct installation of the system. By choosing to work with an authorized distributor, you benefit from both expert advice and a correct installation, in accordance with the manufacturer's requirements. Most of the time, the choice to install the solar panels with unauthorized persons results in a failure, by this we mean the damage of some components of the system and its improper operation. There are cases in which the manufacturer conditions the granting of the warranty on the installation of the solar panels with an authorized installer.
  • Choosing the right position. In general, solar thermal panels are installed on the roof because their efficiency is higher (due to exposure to sunlight for a longer period of the day). The assembly is carried out with the help of metal supports that are fixed on the house envelope (metal tile, ceramic or concrete tile, flat sheet, bituminous shingle, etc.). Because, regardless of the system chosen (pressurized solar panels or non-pressurized solar panels), it is necessary to carry out periodic maintenance work (changing the magnesium anode, pressure and temperature protection valve, winter emptying of non-pressurized solar panels, etc. ), we recommend installing a VELUX attic window, a window that allows you easy access to the roof. Choosing the right position of the solar panels can significantly increase the return on your investment.
  • Maintenance of solar panels. For a correct and efficient operation of the solar panels, it is necessary to periodically carry out maintenance work on the system:
  1. dusting the panels (so that they absorb sunlight better)
  2. checking the quantity and quality of solar antifreeze according to level or pressure.
  3. in the case of pressurized solar panels, the magnesium anode and the temperature and pressure protection valve are changed if necessary.
  4. if you have non-pressurized Solar Panels, they must be emptied during the winter and fed with water without impurities or limescale.
